JUDGES’ REPORT

Again it was my great pleasure to be invited back to the Kingdom of Thailand to Chair the Judging of the Annual Thai Print Awards. It is 9 years since we commenced these awards and I am extremely proud of the growth and success achieved. International Print expert Mr. Robert James from Australia and highly respected industry identity Mrs. Mayuree Paklamjeak from Thailand acted as Team Leaders for a Judging Panel consisting of 4 experienced judges and 4 new members from the Thai Print industry. The Judging process was conducted under very strict guidelines; all entries are judged by number and if any individual judge had knowledge of an entry that judge must stand aside during the judging of that Category. All Judges vote independently and the results are calculated by the Chairman to determine the Medalists and Sponsor award winners.

Overall the Quality this year was outstanding & the Judges spent 3 days deliberating the final outcome.

Several categories deserve special mention:

• Offset Sheetfed Magazines: Exceptional – The best range of quality entries in the awards history.
• Offset Limited Edition & Art Reproductions: Excellent submissions in press & post press production.
• Offset Packaging:
• A great variety of different techniques and substrates.
• Gravure: World class submissions from several Companies. Digital Categories: entries increased in number & quality. Posters & 4 Color Books being excellent.
• Self Promotion: Several of year`s entries were world class.

Unfortunately we still witnessed a number of entries that obviously had not been quality checked prior to submission as many “Basic” print faults were evident and several companies did not comply with the terms & conditions of entry.

We strongly recommend all companies double check the Print Quality plus entry requirements and fully completed all sections of the entry forms prior to submission in next year`s competition.

We compliment The Thai Print Association, for continuing to promote Print excellence in Thailand and we wish the Awards committee every success for the Awards Presentation night.

We thank Awards Chairman Viroon and his team of helpers for their support during the judging period & my personal thanks go to this year`s exceptionally enthusiastic Judging team. Our thanks also to all the 2014 entrants for without you there would not be a competition. The Judging Panel sincerely congratulates this year’s awards winners and we wish you every success in the Asian Print Awards.
